Photo Quality Guidelines

The most important part of your commission is the quality of the photos you provide.

Send as many as you like!

I can work with most any photo(s), but below are some examples of good quality photos and not so good quality.

Tips to help you get a great photo for your pet portrait:

1. LIGHTING: The best photos are taken in natural light settings. Outside in the shade works great. Ensure the whole face & neck is visible and not shadowed.

2. POSE: Take your pet photo at eye level (or slightly higher). Make sure your pet's entire head/neck/ears are shown. Capturing accurate eye color works best if your pet is looking directly at the camera or a slight angle away from the camera.

3. QUALITY: Make sure that your photos are in high resolution and not blurry. Close photos (2-4 feet) work best to capture the unique facial features. High quality photos will guarantee a high quality portrait!

4. COLOR: Use color photos to place an order. Make sure that the pet’s coloring  is not distorted in the photos. To capture accurate fur color, try to avoid excess sunlight on the animal. I can provide black and white portraits upon request.

5. ACCESSORIES: Try to avoid photos where the pet has excess neck accessories. (Collar + leash + harness + bow tie/bandana is too much). One collar/name tag OR one other accessory is fine. Please advise if you would like it included, or a name tag added that is not in the photo.
